Sysdoc Named Leader in Learning Innovation at LearnX Awards 2025 with Three Platinum Awards

Outstanding results for Sysdoc and our clients the Royal New Zealand Navy and Fonterra at the 2025 LearnX Awards. Every programme entered received a platinum award.

Three Platinum Awards

Sysdoc is proud to announce that we have been recognised at the LearnX Awards 2025, receiving three prestigious Platinum Awards for our innovative learning solutions delivered in partnership with Fonterra and the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN). These awards highlight our commitment to creating transformative learning experiences that drive measurable impact and demonstrate the power of collaboration.

Award-Winning Projects

Platinum Award with Fonterra – Best eLearning Design – Interactive Scenario (industry specific) (manufacturing)

In partnership with Fonterra, Sysdoc developed the Critical Risk Ammonia Immersive Experience, an industry-first interactive learning module designed to improve safety outcomes in high-risk environments. This immersive scenario places learners in a realistic, first-person experience of managing an ammonia leak, requiring quick decision-making under pressure.

The module was filmed on-site at Fonterra’s Whareroa facility using 360-degree video and real people and equipment, creating a highly engaging and practical learning experience. With over 140 variables and 80 possible branching paths, the complexity of the solution challenges traditional eLearning by simulating real-world urgency and consequences.

Piloted in March 2025, the experience received outstanding feedback, with learners describing it as “the best scenario training I’ve done” and praising its realism and effectiveness in changing behaviours.

"This experience was world-class and by far some of the best ammonia training I’ve seen."

Platinum Award – Best Learning & Development – Hard Skills Training

Sysdoc partnered with the Royal New Zealand Navy to design and deliver a new Leading Hand Seamanship Combat Specialist (LSCS) Combat Readiness Course. This programme equips sailors with the skills, tools, and resilience needed for modern naval operations, including coaching others in weapons handling and stepping up to leadership roles under pressure.

The course introduced innovative techniques such as scenario-based learning, simulator exercises, and practical drills to build combat mindset and readiness for critical roles like Local Gun Director. Learners reported dramatic improvements in shooting skills and confidence, with feedback describing the course as “full-on, but in a good way” and “well-structured, with plenty of opportunities for learning.”

"This group are focused on becoming Leading Hands, showing the right attitude from the start. They remind me of the gunners of old – loud and proud, actively supporting each other to succeed."

Platinum Award – Best Learning & Development – Induction/Onboarding (industry specific)

Sysdoc also partnered with the Royal New Zealand Navy to enhance the delivery of its Initial Training courses through the modernisation of training techniques, while retaining the core principles of military life. The RNZN recruits around 200 new personnel annually and adapting to military life is a significant cultural shift for trainees.

We partnered with RNZN to redesign this critical phase, introducing structured lesson plans, visual guides, activity cards, and printed checklists to replace informal instruction. Training remained low-tech and experiential, reflecting RNZN’s operational environment, but now delivered with clarity and consistency. Lessons such as facility familiarisation, dining hall etiquette, fire emergency procedures, inspections, and barracking were transformed into engaging, hands-on experiences supported by fit-for-purpose resources.

"Initial RNZN training lays the foundation for capable sailors. Partnering with Sysdoc has helped us modernise and standardise delivery - essential for managing overlapping lessons for large trainee intakes. Pilots show trainees now meet standards in 2–3 days instead of three weeks, reducing the need for follow-up coaching."
